Harrisburg, PA – Harrisburg University of Science and Technology (HU) is delighted to acknowledge the receipt of a $20,000 donation from Orrstown Bank. This gift supports the Education Improvement Tax Credit Program (EITC) and demonstrates Orrstown Bank’s commitment to HU’s mission of making STEM-focused higher education more affordable, flexible, and accessible.

This generous contribution will be directed towards strengthening EITC-approved initiatives at HU. These programs include Dual Enrollment and College in the High School, Digital Media Exploration, Nanobiotechnology Explorations, and active participation in the Capital Area Science and Engineering Fair. Each year, these programs and others at HU positively impact over 1,000 Pennsylvania students, thanks in part to the crucial support received from Pennsylvania businesses through the EITC program.

Duane Maun, HU’s Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer, emphasized the significance of EITC donations: “When organizations use their EITC dollars to support organizations like Harrisburg University, they provide students across Pennsylvania with a head-start on college through the programs we’re able to provide. We are so appreciative of the backing of our EITC donors, and we are pleased to provide the programs they fund.”

How Your Business Can Participate in the EITC Program

The EITC program extends a 75-percent tax credit to qualifying companies and individuals for donations to a nonprofit scholarship organization (SO) or educational improvement organization (EIO). This credit increases to 90 percent if the company commits to identical donations over two consecutive years. Participating businesses and individuals not only benefit from tax advantages but also contribute to innovative educational programs while enhancing their positive public relations through charitable work.
