Harrisburg University President Eric D. Darr, Ph.D., welcomes the next Provost of Harrisburg University of Science and Technology, Dr. Cameron J. McCoy.

As Provost, Dr. McCoy will play a pivotal role in shaping our academic programs, fostering interdisciplinary initiatives, and promoting research endeavors that drive innovation and societal impact. His leadership will undoubtedly elevate our educational offerings, strengthen our research capabilities, and further enhance the student experience at Harrisburg University. He will assume his new position on September 11, 2023. 

“Throughout his career, Cameron has demonstrated a commitment to nurturing a diverse and inclusive academic community that thrives on intellectual curiosity and open dialogue,” said Darr. “His collaborative approach to leadership, coupled with a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing higher education today, make him the ideal candidate to serve as Provost.”

Dr. McCoy holds a Master of Arts in liberal studies and an Interdisciplinary Ph.D. in economics, educational administration, and sociology from the University of Oklahoma. He also holds Bachelors of Arts in social studies and history and a Bachelor of Science in architectural studies — all from Washington State University.

Dr. McCoy has served as Provost of Shenandoah University, Vice President and Vice Provost of Lehigh University, and Executive Director for the Corporate Engagement Office at the University of Oklahoma. In addition, he served as an officer in the United States Army and held multiple roles in private industry. McCoy is an Academy for Innovative Higher Education Leaders (AIHEL) Fellow and was awarded a prestigious American Council on Education (ACE) Fellowship.
