The Central Pennsylvania Chapter of the Health Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) has elected Dr Glenn Mitchell president.
Mitchell is Professor of Healthcare Informatics at Harrisburg University of Science and Technology. Additionally, he serves as Chair of the Faculty-of-the-Whole at Harrisburg University.
HIMSS is a global, cause-based, not-for-profit organization focused on better health through information and technology. HIMSS leads efforts to optimize health engagements and care outcomes using information technology.
The Central Pennsylvania HIMSS Chapter is a local extension of HIMSS National. It is a diverse group of experienced healthcare professionals working throughout central Pennsylvania. HIMSS members work at hospitals, corporate health systems, consulting firms, vendor organizations, universities, and a wide variety of other organizations. The group’s purpose is to promote the understanding of healthcare information and management systems, processes and technologies to members and the community in the Central Pennsylvania Region. HIMSS assists the members of chapter and others in developing their knowledge, increasing their effectiveness and maintaining high-quality standards of performance through continuing education. This is accomplished through meetings and networking events that encourage members to share ideas and exchange experiences in the field of healthcare information and management systems.
