Each year the Financial Aid Office develops the Student Budgets, or the cost for students to attend Harrisburg University. This is also sometimes referred to as the Cost of Attendance. Simply stated, the student budget is the maximum amount of financial aid that a student can receive in a given award year. It is also used in conjunction with the Student Aid Index (SAI) from a student’s Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to determine need-based financial aid eligibility.
Student budgets are assigned based on housing status (On-Campus, Off-Campus, Commuter). The student budget is also divided into multiple categories, including direct expenses such as tuition, and housing for on-campus students. Indirect expenses (non-billable charges) such as food, books, transportation, and miscellaneous costs are also included. It is very important to note that these budgets in most cases will not reflect actual cost because financial aid is not yet included. Complete the financial aid process at HU to calculate your estimated out of pocket cost.
Below you will find 6 separate categories of student budgets: Traditional Undergraduate, HU Online Undergraduate, HU Online Graduate, Graduate/Doctorate, Exercise Science Undergraduate, and Doctor of Physical Therapy. If you are unsure which category applies to you, please contact the Financial Aid Office for assistance.
All figures provided are based on full year costs (fall/spring semesters combined) with the exception of Exercise Science, which is a part-time program so all figures provided are based on 6 credits (half-time enrollment).
Tuition and Fee costs provided are based on 12 credits per semester for traditional Undergraduate, HU Online undergraduate, and Doctor of Physical Therapy. Tuition and Fee costs provided are based on 6 credits per semester for HU Online graduate and graduate/doctorate. Students less than full-time will have all budget categories, including tuition and fee charges, prorated based on credits enrolled and enrollment status. In terms of housing status, it is important to note that in all cases students in HU Online Undergraduate/Graduate, Graduate/Doctorate, Exercise Science, and Doctor of Physical Therapy will all be assigned the Off-Campus housing status. Some of these items are estimates based on average or maximum costs. If a particular student’s cost varies significantly from the estimate, that student’s budget can be adjusted if the student submits a written request accompanied by documentation of the actual cost.
Finally, please note that students residing in on-campus housing are subject to a $200 residential fee every semester. This fee is allocated under the housing budget category as the fees were included in the calculation of our estimated housing budget figure.
