Harrisburg University has partnered with the Pennsylvania Department of the Auditor General, and Members 1st Federal Credit Union, to host a Financial Literacy Essay contest with open eligibility to all 9th-12th grade students across the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

Students, share your perspectives, stories, and beliefs for “WHAT DOES FINANCIAL LITERACY MEAN TO ME?” Submissions should be a short essay or poem, in any creative format: video, design, audio recording, or simply a document. First prize will be $2,500; second prize is $1,500; third prize is $1,000.  Three honorable mentions at $500 each will also be awarded.  Also, all who enter the competition and then enroll at Harrisburg University as full-time, undergraduate students will receive an additional one-time $1,000 tuition scholarship.

SUBMISSION DEADLINE: MARCH 17, 2024 at 8:00 PM

Winners will be announced at a formal presentation at the PA Capitol Rotunda on Friday, April 26 at 11 a.m., during Financial Literacy Month.

Applicants for the Financial Literacy Contest can expect to hear from Harrisburg University regarding the competition, HU admissions, and tuition scholarship.
