Architectural rendering of HU’s
Health Science Education Center

Construction of Harrisburg University’s Health Science Education Center will move forward after Harrisburg City Council approved the University’s land development plan Tuesday night.

Council approved the final plan for the $100 million, 11-story tower planned for downtown by a 6-0 vote Tuesday night.

The new building, to be located at South Third and Chestnut streets – just blocks away from HU’s Academic Center – will accommodate at least 1,000 new students in nursing, pharmaceutical sciences and other allied health programs. The center also will include classrooms and training space for advanced manufacturing and interactive media programs, in addition to auditoriums, and student life and tutoring areas.

The center is expected to open in 2023.
