HARRISBURG, PA — Harrisburg University of Science and Technology (HU) is pleased to announce that Charles Palmer, Ph.D., Dean of the School of Applied Media and Innovation, has been appointed to the AAA Central Penn Board of Directors for a three-year term.
Dr. Palmer leads interdisciplinary programs and departments at Harrisburg University spanning learning technology, business administration, interactive media, game design, and experiential learning. Since joining HU, he has launched the Interactive Media program and helped to develop one of the nation’s earliest esports management academic programs, helping position HU as a national leader in applied digital learning.
“Charles is exactly the kind of faculty leader who extends the University’s impact well beyond our classrooms and labs,” said Harrisburg University Interim President Dave Schankweiler. “His appointment to the AAA Central Penn Board reflects both his expertise and his deep commitment to this region. We couldn’t be prouder to see him take on this role.”
Dr. Palmer’s scholarship and applied work center on the responsible integration of generative and agentic artificial intelligence (AI) as tools for workforce transformation, operational efficiency, and learning innovation. He holds a doctorate in data science and a master’s in analytics, and regularly advises organizations, delivers executive workshops, and provides expert testimony on the societal and economic impacts of AI.
A resident of Central Pennsylvania for 17 years, Dr. Palmer has served on multiple nonprofit and community boards focused on education, leadership development, and public impact, and is frequently cited in regional and national media as a trusted voice on technology and digital culture.
