HARRISBURG, PA — Harrisburg University of Science and Technology (HU) will hold its 18th Commencement Ceremony for the Class of 2025 on Thursday, May 8, 2025. Beginning at 6:30 PM at The Forum Auditorium in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, HU’s 2025 Commencement Exercises will welcome approximately 1,500 community members in celebration of more than 1,000 bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral graduates.
John Boyer, Chief Executive Officer of KVG, will serve as Commencement Speaker. KVG is a mission-support company known for frontline logistics solutions in rugged, austere, and challenging locations.
John is a professional team builder with skills in general management, startup support, negotiations, international expansion, government contracting, defense support, manufacturing, and conflict and post-conflict markets. His experience includes extensive global travel; leading projects and programs across five continents; service in the United States Marine Corps; and education at Texas Tech, the University of San Diego, and Georgetown ESADE. He also holds a degree in Animal Science and is licensed to drive non-commercial passenger vehicles in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
“KVG is a bit different in our space and how we deliver,” said Mr. Boyer. “We like challenges, we love adventures, and being creative and making it happen matters. We’re attracted to like-minded organizations with similar entrepreneurial spirits – so it’s not hard to understand why we align so well with the Harrisburg University team and the way they inspire our keystone talent.”
The KVG Team is well noted for its ability to be creative and cost-efficient in delivering local solutions for government and commercial customers operating abroad, and has experience in over 100 countries. KVG is a prime contractor for the US Navy Worldwide Expeditionary Support Program and Global Husbandry Contracts, and an implementer of various foreign military assistance programs related to border security, counter narcotics, and defense threat reduction.
“John leads a fantastic team at KVG,” said David Schankweiler, Interim President at Harrisburg University. “Under his leadership, they’ve become highly regarded as a mission-support firm that provides critical logistics knowledge and resources around the globe. We are very proud to call KVG a partner and sponsor of Harrisburg University, and to have them work so closely with us on research endeavors through HU’s Center for Advanced Manufacturing and Materials, better known as STORMWERX.”
Schankweiler continued: “On the academic side, John and his organization have been very supportive of our Advanced Manufacturing program and have fueled student success both in and out of the classroom. He is passionate about the HU mission and has gone above and beyond to create opportunities for our learners. Even though he runs a global organization, John is from Central PA – and he is passionate about supporting the local community. That’s why we’re thrilled to have him cap off our Twentieth Academic Year here at HU.”
Harrisburg University extends heartfelt congratulations to the 1,082 graduates set to join the Class of 2025! For more information about HU’s 18th Commencement Exercises, please visit HarrisburgU.edu/Commencement.
