HARRISBURG, PA – Harrisburg University of Science and Technology (HU), the Partnership for Career Development (PCD), and Steelton-Highspire School District will present the inaugural Green Careers Discovery Day on March 11 at Steelton-Highspire High School.
Green Careers Discovery Day is an exciting opportunity for students to explore careers in sustainability, engineering, and environmental sciences. This hands-on event will feature interactive career discovery sessions with industry leaders and guided tours of cutting-edge sustainability initiatives. Funding for this event is generously provided by a grant from the PPL Foundation.
Onsite explorations will include presentations by the Harrisburg University Aquaponics Team at the Steelton-Highspire Aquaponics Lab, as well as demonstrations of the Steelton-Highspire Solar Array, presented by McClure Company.

By engaging with HU faculty, students, and hands-on demonstrations in the Research Greenhouse at Steelton-Highspire High School, students will gain a deeper understanding of how sustainability intersects with technology, agriculture, and policy, and hopefully emerge inspired to pursue impactful careers that contribute to a greener future for us all.”
Explore Degrees in Environmental Science, Agriculture, and Green Technology
Harrisburg University’s industry-advised undergraduate degree concentrations within Environmental Science (ENVS) – including sustainability, controlled environment agriculture (CEA), and drone applications & geospatial analysis – equip students with a multidisciplinary foundation in environmental research, technology, and policy.
