HARRRISBURG, Pa. – Harrisburg University (HU) of Science and Technology is pleased to announce that this year’s PA Cup Esports tournament is set for April 2 and will pit the top 12 local high schools bringing 16 teams to compete in Overwatch2 and Rocket League.

Winning teams will receive PA Cup jerseys and a one-of-a-kind trophy crafted by seniors enrolled in HU’s Advanced Manufacturing Bachelor of Science Degree program. PA Cup participants also will take tours of HU and learn about the University’s STEM-driven undergraduate and graduate degree programs.

This year’s event is unique from previous competitions in that it was entirely concepted, designed, and will be executed by students enrolled in the University’s Bachelor of Science in Esports Management, Production, and Performance program. The planning for the event began last semester with the Live Event Management class’s intention of giving students the opportunity to learn through doing.

“Taking on the responsibilities of producing the event, the accompanying broadcast, and coordinating the efforts of various internal and external partners, the students are setting a brilliant example of what our HU students are capable of,” said Thomas Panico, Esports Management, Production, and Performance faculty member. “It is the hope of the faculty that these students will gain a phenomenal experience that will help prepare them for their future careers in esports. We also hope that this will set a new standard of student-led events here at Harrisburg University.”
