The Harrisburg University Storm ushered competitive Esports into the Harrisburg region in 2018.

Championships, collegiate Esports tournaments, summits, festivals, and even a championship-winning professional Esports team, the Soniqs, followed in its wake.

Like The HU Storm, the Soniqs, for which HU President Dr. Eric Darr and Professor Charles Palmer provide strategic direction and content for, have enjoyed a tremendous record of its own since the team arrived on the scene in 2019.

The Harrisburg-based Soniqs, which provide HU students with a bevy of experiential learning opportunities, took home a $1.3 million global championship prize by beating out 31 other teams during a six-week tournament at Studio Paradise in Incheon, South Korea, in 2021. And the team’s winning ways continue!

Below is a roundup of the Soniqs recent additions and wins:

Rocket League:

This year, the Soniqs entered the EU Rocket League competitive scene with a brand new roster of players that are currently competing in the “G1 Winter Invitational.” Be sure to stop by and check out the Soniq’s replica Rocket League car on display in the lobbies of the University’s Harrisburg and Philadelphia locations.

Rainbow 6 Siege:

Last year, the Soniq’s Rainbow 6 Siege team qualified for and competed in the Six Jönköping Major 2022, which was an international tournament hosted in Jönköping, Sweden. The team flew out to compete in the tournament and finished in a top four position. Since then, the squad picked up a couple of new players which has made them a power team, and potentially the strongest in the region. The team plays next in the Six Invitational 2023 which begins February 7th, 2023!

PUBG:

The Soniq’s PUBG team also had success, taking home first place in both PCS6 and PCS7. Because of their success in PCS6 and PCS7, the Soniqs qualified for and competed in the PUBG Global Championship 2022 (PGC 2022).
