HARRISBURG, PA — An alumnus of the Harrisburg University of Science & Technology (HU) Information Systems Engineering & Management master’s degree program, Hema Sagar Endluri ‘25, has been invited as a Featured Speaker to the International Conference on Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and Robotics, taking place in Barcelona, Spain, in May 2026.

The invitation follows the recognition of Hema’s research on AI-driven medical diagnostic chatbots using retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) pipelines and large language models (LLMs), which earned third place at HU’s Research Symposium earlier this year. Hema’s work caught the attention of conference organizers, leading them to ask him to share these insights with a wider academic and industry audience.

At the conference, Hema will present a project titled “AI-Powered Medical Diagnostic Support Chatbots,” which explores how LLMs, Amazon Bedrock, and RAG frameworks can deliver accurate, explainable, and ethical responses in clinical settings. “This work is significant because it highlights how trustworthy generative AI and knowledge-grounded systems can improve healthcare efficiency, patient experience, and decision-making,” Hema explained. “It bridges the gap between advanced AI models and practical, ethical applications in medicine.”

Representing Harrisburg University on an international stage is both a personal and professional milestone. “It validates the years I’ve invested in learning AI, MLOps, and healthcare applications,” he said. “Professionally, it’s a chance to connect with researchers and industry leaders to shape discussions on responsible AI in healthcare.”

Hema hopes attendees will leave with three takeaways: that generative AI can be safe when grounded in robust data, that collaboration between engineers and clinicians is vital, and that responsible innovation is within reach for anyone driven to solve real-world problems.

For fellow students aspiring to share their work on similar platforms, Hema offers this advice:

“Start by solving real-world problems you care about – whether in healthcare, accessibility, or other impactful fields – and share your progress through university symposiums, open-source contributions, and local meetups. Networking with mentors and peers opens doors to new opportunities. Most importantly, be ready to communicate your work clearly and show its real-world value, not just the technical values. Passion and clarity often stand out more than the complexity of the project itself.”
