HARRISBURG, PA — Yovel Baruch ‘26, a Master of Science in Project Management student at Harrisburg University of Science & Technology (HU), has been selected as a recipient of the Global Accreditation Center (GAC) Scholarship from the Project Management Institute. This recognition places Baruch among a select group of students worldwide who are advancing the field of project management through academic excellence and professional promise.

“I was honored to receive the Project Management Institute Global Accreditation Center scholarship,” Yovel said. “This recognition from the leading global authority in project management motivates me to continue growing as a leader and reinforces that I am building on the right foundation for the next stage of my career.”

The Global Accreditation Center for Project Management Education Programs (GAC) is an independent academic accreditation body that sets rigorous standards for project, program, and portfolio management education at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Its scholarship program provides support to students studying project management, empowering them to apply methodologies that address organizational needs and strengthen the profession. Sixteen scholarships are awarded annually to students enrolled in GAC-accredited programs around the world.

Yovel said one of the reasons he chose HU for his graduate studies was the program’s reputation and flexibility.

“Harrisburg University’s Master of Project Management is ranked among the top three graduate programs in the nation. That level of recognition gave me confidence in the program’s quality,” he explained. “The executive format also allows me to continue working as an IT & Engineering Project Manager at KLA, a global leader in the semiconductor industry, where I can immediately apply new methodologies and perspectives in real-world projects. For me, it’s the perfect balance of academic excellence and practical, hands-on experience.”

Yovel’s professors describe him as a standout student whose commitment to excellence exemplifies the spirit of the scholarship.

“As one of my top performing students, I observed Yovel to embody the traits we seek in future thought leaders of the project management profession: intellectual curiosity, discipline, innovation, and a service-oriented mindset,” said Dr. Michael Oliver, who taught Yovel during the 2025 spring semester. “Given his academic performance, extensive professional experience, and evident passion for the field, I believe he will continue to contribute meaningfully to the project management community.”

Yovel says his favorite part of the program is how it connects theory and practice.

“The coursework goes beyond frameworks; it challenges us to think about how leadership, risk management, and strategy come to life in real projects. I also value the diverse backgrounds of my classmates, which make discussions more dynamic and provide perspectives I wouldn’t encounter in my own industry alone.”

“We are so proud of Yovel for earning this prestigious GAC scholarship. His achievement reflects not only his talent and determination, but also the collaborative and future-focused learning environment we foster in our program,” said Professor Jen Mowery, Program Lead for Project Management at HU. “Recognitions like this demonstrate the impact our students are making in the field.”

Yovel expressed deep gratitude for the mentorship he has received along the way.

“Dr. Oliver and Professor Mowery’s perspectives and support have helped shape how I approach project management, both academically and in practice.”
