HARRISBURG, PA — Harrisburg University of Science and Technology (HU) congratulates Master of Data Analytics student, Utsav Rajendrakumar Patel, on presenting his capstone project – “Examining Risk Factors in Cesarean Delivery and Prediction Through Machine Learning” – at the New York State Perinatal Association (NYSPA) Annual Conference. Utsav was awarded 2nd place in the Scientific Research category at this prestigious professional summit.
“I am honored to have Utsav in class, and his thesis topic aligns perfectly with his academic goals,” said Ziyuan Huang, Ph.D., Professor of Analytics at HU. “Winning 2nd place in the Clinical/Scientific Poster Category at the 2025 Annual Conference of the New York State Perinatal Association is a well-deserved recognition of his work. As an HU alum, I aspire to see more students follow his example by presenting their research at conferences and publishing in academic journals, further enhancing HU’s reputation in science and research. Congratulations to Utsav on this achievement, and I wish him continued success in his future endeavors.”
Utsav noted: “This research started as part of the Statewide Maternal Health Innovation (SMHI) grant to help improve maternal health in New York State and better understand why so many low-risk births still end in cesarean delivery. This was the first conference I attended of its kind, and presenting in front of the NYSPA was an amazing experience. I felt honored to share my work and learn from others. Winning second place meant a lot to me and my colleagues who made all the hard work feel worth it. I hope this research helps raise awareness among medical service providers, encourages better care for mothers and babies, and reduces unnecessary c-section deliveries when possible.”
Seeing HU students excel at professional summits always provides a sense of validation for our university’s culture and mission. Congratulations once again to Utsav on this outstanding milestone! You’ve made HU proud.
