HARRISBURG, PA — Central Penn Business Journal has selected Rebekah Harriger, Senior Director of Career Services & Experiential Learning at Harrisburg University of Science and Technology (HU), as a Woman to Watch in the 2025 Women of Influence Awards.
Women of Influence honors high-achieving women for their career accomplishments. Honorees are selected based on their professional experience, community involvement, and commitment to mentoring. More specifically, the Women to Watch Award honors women leaders under the age of 35 for professional and community accomplishments early in their careers.
The honorees were selected by a panel of judges comprised of previous years’ Circle of Excellence recipients and by the editors of Central Penn Business Journal.
“The 2025 Women of Influence are inspiring leaders who have made significant contributions to Central Pennsylvania and beyond,” said Suzanne Fischer-Huettner, Managing Director of BridgeTower Media/Central Penn Business Journal. “They are high-achieving role models who mentor and encourage future generations to pursue their own paths and ambitions. Our Women to Watch are impressive young leaders making their mark in the community. We at Central Penn Business Journal are pleased to honor these transformational women.”
Emily Lupi, Employer Relations Coordinator at Harrisburg University, submitted Rebekah’s award nomination. She wrote: “Rebekah is a dedicated leader who has made a significant impact in Central Pennsylvania through her commitment to mentoring and empowering students at Harrisburg University and her service on numerous professional and workforce development boards – including Harrisburg Young Professionals, where she serves as Co-Vice President for 2025.”
Emily continued: “Rebekah has been an exceptional and supportive leader here at HU, consistently investing in my growth by offering professional development opportunities, encouraging involvement in career-aligned organizations, and being a champion during challenges and a cheerleader in moments of success. She also serves as a role model and source of inspiration to students and staff across Harrisburg University. Rebekah instinctively understands the needs of our students and goes above and beyond to support them, integrating innovative programs and curricula that not only enhance Harrisburg University’s student success but also strengthen connections with regional employers.”
Rebekah has been nationally recognized for her work in experiential education, previously receiving a Rising Star Award from the Society of Experiential Education. She is also a published research fellow and has been selected to speak at multiple national conferences about experiential education at Harrisburg University.
This year’s Women of Influence will be honored on June 25 at a celebration at the Sheraton Harrisburg Hershey Hotel, and the honorees will be profiled in a magazine that will be distributed to all winners and attendees at the awards celebration. It will also be found at CPBJ.com and inserted into the July 4 issue of Central Penn Business Journal.
