HARRISBURG, PA – Harrisburg University of Science and Technology (HU) is excited to announce that Lavar Scott, NASCAR’s 2024 Rookie of the Year and current racer for NASCAR’s Driver for Diversity Program, will accompany HU in the 2025 Harrisburg St. Patrick’s Day Parade. Lavar will be driving a Corvette generously provided by Turner Chevy.
“I’m honored to stand with the next generation, navigating and showing them the different opportunities that are available within motorsports,” said Scott. “Working with Harrisburg University and the Urban Youth Racing School allows us to create a powerful platform for innovation and inclusion – ensuring that opportunity, education, and mentoring are accessible to our communities.”

- WHERE: Begins at Market Street Bridge, continuing to North 2nd Street, North Street, and North Front Street before returning to Market Street Bridge.
The St. Patrick’s Day Parade, organized by the Harrisburg Downtown Improvement District, brings Irish festivities, music, and dancing to downtown Harrisburg each year. With marching bands, firetrucks, antique automobiles, and an impressively diverse assortment of performers and organizations, this year’s parade promises to be one to remember.
“There’s so many amazing groups that we have participate. We are looking at probably the most groups we’ve ever had since we’ve been putting on the parade for many years,” said Downtown Improvement District Executive Director Todd Vander Woude.
