Harrisburg, PA – Harrisburg University of Science and Technology (HU) and Urban Youth Racing School (UYRS) have been on a mutually enriching mission as they expand access to inspiring, much-needed STEM-focused experiences for students in Pennsylvania. This partnership is taking on new facets as it grows to support more students in wider ways.
Based in Philadelphia, UYRS is an educational program designed to engage learners in the world of motorsports while promoting STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) education. Its mission is to inspire and empower diverse youth from underrepresented communities by providing hands-on learning that combines the excitement of racing with practical skills in engineering, mechanics, and teamwork.
Harrisburg University not only provides co-location space for UYRS at HU’s Philadelphia campus, but also offers robust academic and financial support to UYRS students, opening pathways to a world-class STEM education. As this partnership expands, HU will enhance the student experience by providing educational resources, mentorship, and access to its innovative facilities.
As an exciting addition to this partnership, HU is announcing the Urban Youth Racing School Promise Scholarship at Harrisburg University, which will offer access to all undergraduate programs at HU. This scholarship will provide funding for undergraduate tuition ($10,000 per year; $40,000 over four years) to every UYRS student and alumni who enroll full-time to pursue an on-campus or online undergraduate degree at Harrisburg University.
