HARRISBURG, PA – Girls Action Network (GAN) – a nonprofit dedicated to helping girls, particularly from underrepresented communities, thrive in the STEM, Supply Chain, and Skilled Trades (3S WorkforceTM) – is proud to announce a new strategic partnership with Harrisburg University of Science and Technology (HU) and its STEM-UP Network. This collaboration aims to advance workforce development in the 3S sectors by providing innovative educational and mentorship opportunities for girls and young women.

The partnership aligns with GAN’s mission to dismantle the stereotypes that limit girls’ career options and empower them to lead within the 3S WorkforceTM. Through this collaboration, GAN, Harrisburg University, and STEM-UP Network will leverage their collective resources and expertise to create a robust pipeline of skilled female professionals who are ready to meet the demands of the 21st-century workforce.

“We are thrilled to partner with Harrisburg University and the STEM-UP Network,” said Elisa Basnight, Founder of Girls Action Network. “Together, we will provide girls and young women with the tools, experiences, and support they need to explore and succeed in careers in STEM, Supply Chain, and Skilled Trades. This partnership will play a critical role in addressing the gender gap in these fields and ensuring a diverse and inclusive workforce.”

The memorandum of understanding (MOU) between the organizations outlines key objectives, including collaboration on STEM education initiatives; enhancing workforce readiness; and building community and capacity.

“This partnership exemplifies our commitment to fostering a diverse community of learners and supporting their journey into STEM careers,” said Eric D. Darr, Ph.D., President of Harrisburg University. Bilita “Bili” Mattes, D.Ed., Executive Director of STEM-UP Network, joined Dr. Darr in celebrating this milestone: “By working together with GAN and STEM-UP Network, we are taking significant steps to ensure that more young women are prepared to lead and innovate in these critical sectors.”
