HARRISBURG, PA — Harrisburg University of Science and Technology’s (HU) Interactive Media (IMED) program is on a mission to make the unseen work of the HU community heard far beyond the walls of its classrooms and labs. IMED’s new podcast, “IMPACT,” is shining a light on the innovative projects, transformative stories, and regional partnerships that define the HU experience.
“Our mission is to highlight the influence of Harrisburg University on its students, community, regional partners, and STEM-related industries,” said Charles Palmer, Ph.D., Associate Professor of Interactive Media and Interim Dean of Applied Media & Innovation. “By sharing these stories, the podcast reflects HU’s commitment to building a diverse and supportive learning environment.”
Episodes also explore themes such as entrepreneurship and internships, underlining HU’s role in workforce development and fostering business creation. Anthony Ortega, Corporate Faculty for the IMED and Game Design programs, serves as the Executive Producer, but there are plans to bring students into the creative process and production.
Episodes are recorded in the JPL & d’Vinci Digital Media Studio, located in the UPMC Health Sciences Tower at Harrisburg University. The state-of-the-art studio provides a professional setting for capturing high-quality audio and video, giving students and faculty the tools they need to produce polished, industry-level content.
The inspiration for the podcast came from a desire to give visibility to the boundary-pushing work happening across campus. “We have amazing staff, students, and faculty working on the edges of innovation. Their work is often hidden within classrooms, labs, or offices,” said Dr. Palmer. “This podcast is a way to amplify our voices, making the work visible and accessible to our alumni, partners, and future students.”
So far, “IMPACT” has featured episodes centered around student projects, innovative entrepreneurs, and professional development opportunities, with plans to broaden the range of topics and guest contributors as the podcast evolves. One exciting development on the horizon is a potential esports-focused series exploring HU’s varsity and intramural programs.

“IMPACT” had a soft launch in the Spring and Summer of this year and will expand its reach this Fall for discoverability and to gauge external interest. During the Fall and Spring semesters, episodes will be released on Friday afternoons. Listeners can find the podcast on Spotify and iHeartRadio.
