Join Harrisburg University’s Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship for its next “Conversations in Innovation” set to take place from 12-1 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 30.

The virtual discussion, “Schools and Parents: Innovating in Real Time!,” will feature Big Spring School District Superintendent, Dr. Richard W. Fry, and Cherie Powell, Business Educator and Department Chairperson, Big Spring High School.

Dr. Richard W. Fry is serving in his 17th year as the Superintendent of Schools in the Big Spring School District. Dr. Fry’s educational career spans stops in Northern Virginia for a third of his career and the final portion of his professional journey has been spent in three school districts in southcentral Pennsylvania

Dr. Fry has served at the state and national level during his tenure at Big Spring including serving as the President of the Pennsylvania Association of School Administrators (PASA), Governing Board member of AASA (National School Superintendents Association), member of the Board of Directors at NCERT ( National Council of Educational Research and Training), member of the board of directors for EdLeader21, Chairman of the EasyProcure Card Board of Directors, and President of the North-Atlantic Region for the National Center for Transformational Leadership Strategies. His is the proud father of four children and his wife Kelly is a retired public school teacher.

Powell is a Business Educator and Assistant Cooperative Education Coordinator at Big Spring High School beginning her 25th year in education.  She is also the Business Department Chairperson and the instructor for the Business INCubator course.  Big Spring High School is a rural school district located in Newville, Pennsylvania, with approximate enrollment of 800 students in grades 9-12.
