HU Professor Dr. Tonya Miller, who heads the University’s Physical Therapy doctoral degree program that is under development, and colleagues received Social Responsibility awards for two of their research posters displayed at the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) Combined Sections Meeting (CSM) in San Diego Feb. 23-25.

The poster titled, “The Impact of Summer Camp on the Quality of Life for Children Requiring Ventilatory Support,” received recognition in the Social Responsibility category. And the poster, “LGBTQ+Barriers in Physical Therapy Education and Practice: A Qualitative Study from the Patients’ Perspective,” was named one of the top three Social responsibility projects displayed at the conference.

Miller also delivered a two-hour presentation at the conference. Her presentation was titled, “Emotional Intelligence: A key to engagement in home health.”
