Harrisburg University of Science and Technology Computer Science and Analytics Professor Dr. Kevin Huggins is building bridges that lead to Harrisburg University as he completes a Fulbright Scholarship in Bucaramanga, Colombia.
During the six-week visit that began in early June, Dr. Huggins has helped develop a continuous quality improvement process for the Universidad de Santander via a series of workshops, small-group sessions, and one-on-one meetings. He simultaneously is developing relationships for Harrisburg University Latin America (HULATAM) – HU’s recently launched location in Panama – as the Fulbright commissions of both the U.S. and Colombia are publicizing his visit.
“With each public relations event, HU is very present through branding and discussion. As a result, this trip has provided an increased awareness of HU in Colombia and the region,” said Dr. Huggins, who is spearheading the HULATAM effort. “Secondly, developing collaborative partnerships is an important aspect of HULATAM’s launch. Through the close relationships I’ve developed with my host institution, HULATAM now has an additional institution interested in a partnership.”
The relationships Dr. Huggins has developed already for HULATAM have strengthened due to his visit, he said. And this will only help HULATAM at it continues to grow, Dr. Huggins said.
“As HULATAM enters the region, it will be seen as an organization that is ready to positively and collaboratively impact its community,” he added.
