HU Pharmaceutical Sciences Professor, Dr. Erik Hefti, recently joined abc27 news to discuss the FDA’s expected decision to authorize the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine for kids as young as 12.

The vaccine already is approved for those 16 and older. And health experts are urging for kids 12 and older to become vaccinated as soon as possible.

“We need to pivot quickly to that younger population in order to potentially reach that herd immunity as soon as possible,” Hefti said. “Not all children can say they want a COVID vaccine. Parent input is obviously necessary in that case.”
