HARRISBURG, PA — The Harrisburg University of Science & Technology (HU) Game Design program partnered with the Game Design & Development program at Wilmington University in Wilmington, DE, to host the first-ever WUHU Game Jam from November 5 through November 12, 2025.
Five student teams each created games from scratch in just one week. Students connected via Discord to create simple games using the constraint of “just one button.”
“This format is popular for mobile games like Flappy Bird and Canabalt, and it gave the students both a helpful limitation in terms of development time and a chance to undertake some clever design decisions,” said Greg Loring-Albright, Ph.D., Assistant Professor of Game Studies & Design, who organized the game jam with Wilmington University Assistant Professor and Program Chair of Game Design & Development, Robert Passarelli.
While a Wilmington University team won the jam, Harrisburg University students created interesting and thoughtfully designed games like Single-Minded – a one-button rhythm game by Lillian Bowerman ‘27, Khaliq Hatmal ‘27, Ryan Spangler ‘28, and Aodhan Wills ’28; and Tomorrow – a meditative game by Joshua Scott ‘26.
All games from the jam are available to play online, and Professors Loring-Albright and Passarelli are already planning for another iteration of the WUHU Game Jam. Stay tuned for details!
