HARRISBURG, PA – Harrisburg University of Science and Technology (HU) is pleased to announce that its Annual Gala will take place on Saturday, May 31, 2025 at Hilton Harrisburg. The Annual Gala serves as the keystone fundraising event for HU, celebrating the profound impact of philanthropy on higher learning and highlighting the transformative academic experiences of HU’s outstanding students.
A Celebration of Achievement, Community, and Momentum
Each year, the Gala unites community leaders from business, academia, and government to celebrate progress and momentum, both within the university and beyond. Attendees will hear firsthand accounts of student achievement, enjoy a formal dinner, and engage with fellow supporters who share a commitment to education and innovation in Central Pennsylvania.
As always, the Gala will serve as a significant driver of support for the Emerging Scholars Fund, which directly benefits HU’s undergraduate students.
AIACPA Is Harrisburg University’s Impact Award Honoree for 2025
HU also takes great pride in announcing the recipient of this year’s prestigious Impact Award: Asian Indian Americans of Central Pennsylvania (AIACPA). This honor recognizes AIACPA’s unwavering dedication to community building, academic access, and social cohesion – values that align seamlessly with HU’s mission of creating pathways to opportunity for all.
Founded in 1993 as a secular, nonpartisan, nonprofit organization, AIACPA’s mission is five-fold:
- To create and promote a forum to maintain the social and cultural heritage of the Indians of Asian origin residing in the United States of America.
- To provide a congenial environment for the social, cultural, and professional well-being of Americans of Asian Indian descent.
- To actively participate in social- and need-oriented community organizations and programs.
- To promote harmonious relations between Indians of Asian origin and Americans, and between the countries of India and the United States.
- To educate and encourage participation by Americans of Asian Indian descent in the democratic process of the United States of America.
“Harrisburg University is thrilled to celebrate the incredible contributions of AIACPA, an organization whose mission resonates deeply with our own,” said HU Interim President, Dave Schankweiler. “Both of our institutions exist to empower individuals from communities who may struggle to find a sense of belonging and access to academic and employment opportunities. AIACPA’s tireless community-building efforts, its support for HU’s Asian Indian community, and its dedication to Pennsylvania’s diverse social fabric, make it a truly deserving recipient of this year’s Impact Award. We are grateful for their service to HU and to the greater Central Pennsylvania community.”
Deep Gupta, Co-Founder & Chairman for the AIACPA Advisory Council, expressed gratitude for the recognition and emphasized AIACPA’s and HU’s shared mission:
“It is an honor for AIACPA to be recognized by Harrisburg University with the Impact Award. Our goal is to uplift and support communities by providing opportunities for education, professional development, and cultural connection. In a region as diverse as Central Pennsylvania – and in a country fighting to reclaim its heritage and identity as a proud melting pot for the world’s peoples – we all have an important role to play in fostering unity, peaceful co-existence following principles of nonviolence, finding a shared purpose, and ensuring economic mobility for all. We look forward to continuing our work alongside HU to build a stronger, more inclusive future throughout the city and state.”
Harrisburg University invites members of the public to celebrate the extraordinary work of AIACPA by attending the India Day Community Fair at HACC on Saturday, August 9, from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM. The Fair will showcase Asian Indian culture, a cultural parade, all-day live stage performances, and ample shopping and food vendors. Harrisburg University will also have a booth, so come visit with us! Entry to the Fair is complimentary. Join HU’s academic mission and support the contributions of an organization making a meaningful difference in the Central PA community each day.
