A new agreement between NuPaths, a Harrisburg University educational startup, and River Rock Academy’s Lancaster campus, gives academy students the ability to enroll in a unique and innovative IT Technical Support Specialist program while simultaneously earning up to 10 college credits.
NuPaths will offer the Technical Support Specialist program at River Rock Academy beginning in September and ending in May. LearnSTEMIC, a sister company of NuPaths, also co-founded by Harrisburg University, has been contracted to re-design a classroom specifically to accommodate the student learning from 8-10 a.m., three days a week.
River Rock will enroll ten juniors and seniors in the program. This partnership will help the students build a strong foundation in the IT field with courses in IT Fundamentals, Productivity Software and Communication Software, and Technical support for the Modern Enterprise. The program will prepare them to handle challenging technical support issues across a variety of computer hardware and operating system platforms.
“River Rock Academy looks forward to partnering with the NuPaths program at Harrisburg University to provide more educational opportunities for our students that will lead them on the path to a successful career,” said Steve Capoferri, CEO of River Rock Academy.
“We are very happy to build an academic partnership with River Rock Academy and are confident our programs will prepare the students to begin a successful career in the fast-growing IT field,” said Pankaj Agarwal, co-founder of NuPaths.
Technical support specialists are at the forefront of computer and technology operations. They troubleshoot software, fix operating system issues, rebuild computers, perform general maintenance on computer devices and much more. Technical Support Specialists work in corporate offices, or as independent consultants and business owners. Some work in big electronics stores (think Best Buy’s Geek Squad). With the field of computers and technology constantly growing and changing there will always be a need for Technical Support Specialists.
The Technical Support Specialist program includes four courses taught by NuPaths instructors. Students will complete one major project and have an opportunity to earn a total of 6 (six) industry-recognized certifications from CompTIA and Microsoft. Students who pass all courses and at least 50 percent of the certification exams will receive a Certificate of Completion that represents the successful completion of the Technical Support Specialist program.
