Harrisburg University of Science and Technology has been named a Pennsylvania National Guard Associations Guard Friendly School.

Developed by the PNGAS Education Advisory Council, the PNGAS Guard-Friendly School standards were designed to recognize colleges, universities, and trade schools that meet or exceed 10 baseline criteria that create a supportive learning environment to assist members of the Pennsylvania Guard pursuing post-secondary degrees.

“Harrisburg University is pleased to be recognized as a PNGAS Guard Friendly School,” said Dr. Eric Darr, Harrisburg University President. “Creating different pathways to success for students includes fostering relationships with industry and the entire community, including various military branches.”

Working together with many dozens of supporting organizations, PNGAS seeks to grow the number of PNGAS Guard Friendly Schools across the Commonwealth, while increasing awareness of the best practices many schools utilize to enhance student recruitment and promotion of the Pennsylvania National Guard.

Another goal seeks to promote the Education Assistance Program (EAP) and the Military Family Education Program (MFEP), the nation’s largest tuition benefits, to students, faculty, parents, and administrators.
