Harrisburg University continues to actively monitor the trends, developments, and science of COVID-19 with one primary concern in mind: keeping the HU Community safe and healthy.

Consequently, based on current COVID-19 trends, it is in the best interest of the entire HU Community to deliver the late fall 2020 semester (October 24, 2020 – February 19, 2021) totally online. No face-to-face sessions will be held and no student access to HU classrooms or facilities will be provided.

Federal guidelines for international students studying in the US continue to allow for greater flexibility in how programs are delivered and managed. Under the continuing but temporary federal guidelines, students still need to be monitored (e.g., attendance taken and verified), show academic progress (through their work), and maintain their full-time course load at 6 credits.

If you are an international graduate student studying at HU, you will maintain your visa status and be allowed to remain in the US to study and work as long as you continue to attend and fully participate in classes online to include attending Executive Sessions online versus in person. If these guidelines should change, or should there be any further COVID-19 announcements, HU will post updates at https://covid.harrisburgu.edu.

Please note that HU’s ability to offer fully online delivery to international students may change in the future if the federal government changes its current guidance. Any changes to the temporary exemption will be immediately announced by HU. Please continue to monitor HU’s website dedicated to coronavirus developments and its impact on university operations at https://covid.harrisburgu.edu/ .

Should you have any questions regarding your visa status, please review the information available at https://isohelp.harrisburgu.edu and generate a new support request if you have specific questions.

Any HU student who is experiencing concerns such as anxiety, depression, or academic stress as a result of this issue should contact the BHS Student Assistance Program. You can login via the app/web, https://portal.bhsonline.com, or call 800-327-2251. The username is HarrisburgU. Outreach to BHS is confidential, and each student is assigned a master’s level clinician as a care coordinator.

HU has contracted with BHS to provide quality, in-the-moment support. HU’s Counseling Center will also update their SharePoint site with information and resources on a wide array of mental health topics: https://myharrisburgu.sharepoint.com/sites/SSCounseling
