Harrisburg, Pa. – The Whitaker Center has named Harrisburg University of Science and Technology this year’s Champion Organization for supporting the advancement of women in STEM.

Harrisburg University will be awarded the Champion Organization Award during the Whitaker Center’s Women of Impact: Celebrating Women in STEM Awards Program set to take place at the West Shore Country Club the evening of Sept. 22.

The Champion Organization Award recognizes an organization that supports the advancement of women in STEM.

According to the Whitaker Center, the awards selection committee was “impressed with the variety of ways HU impacts our community and supports women in STEM fields – from the STEM-UP Network to the individuals who help run it, mentor students, and make an impact in their STEM field.”

This year’s awards program will outline the work of women at HU who help promote the advancement of women in STEM.

The Women in STEM awards benefits the Whitaker Center’s Girls in STEM Initiative, which has engaged more than 4,000 young girls in fun and welcoming STEM-related activities designed to build their confidence and interests.
