Geoffrey M. Roche of the Harrisburg University of Science and Technology faculty recently completed the National Leadership Academy for Public Health on a Pennsylvania-based team that also included the Pennsylvania Departments of Aging and Health.

The Center for Health Leadership & Impact (formerly the Center for Health Leadership and Practice) recently recognized Roche for his participation. The National Leadership Academy for the Public’s Health (NLAPH) began in 2011 to provide training to four-person multi-sector teams from across the country to advance their leadership skills and achieve health equity in their community.  From chronic disease prevention and disaster preparedness to safe streets and food security, its evidence-based program helps communities address a wide range of public health challenges and create lasting change.

“NLAPH was a unique and transformative experience as it presented an opportunity for a public-private partnership focused on advancing health equity in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania to further come together and have these efforts recognized at a national level, while also engaging and learning with other teams representing organizations across the nation,” says Roche.

Roche is a member of the Population Health faculty team at Harrisburg University of Science and Technology, and he serves as the Senior Vice President, National Health Care Practice for Core Education.

A regular contributor to the national dialogue on population health and health equity topics, Roche has volunteered and has been appointed to serve on numerous local, state, and national committees and taskforces, including the Health Equity Task Force of the National Infrastructure for Mitigating the Impact of COVID-19 within Racial and Ethnic Minority Communities (NIMIC) initiative, the Pennsylvania Department of Health Office of Health Equity Advisory Committee, the Lebanon County Economic Recovery Taskforce Leadership Team, and more. His professional career has included over nine years in hospital administration where he served as a strategic advisor to the President and CEO and department director of various departments, including Business Development and Planning, Government Affairs, Community Health, and Public Relations, for Lehigh Valley Health Network.
