HARRISBURG, Pa. Harrisburg University (HU) of Science and Technology held its first in-person commencement ceremony in three years for the classes of 2022, 2021, and 2020 before a packed Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex and Expo Center on May 12, 2022.

HU’s alumni welcomed 1,155 new members as the Class of 2022 received their diplomas Thursday evening. While the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) fields historically have been filled by men, HU is proud to announce that the Class of 2022 consists of 50 percent men and 50 percent women.

The University’s first student to earn a Ph.D. at HU, Dr. Maria Vaida, class of 2020, also participated in this year’s commencement exercises. The Classes of 2020 and 2021, whose commencement ceremonies took place online due to the COVID-19 pandemic, also participated in HU’s 15th commencement ceremony, which attracted a standing-room only audience to the Farm Show Expo Center. This year’s commencement speaker was Nicholas Bertram, President of The Giant Company.
