On October 18th, seven students from Harrisburg University traveled to Bad Pyrmont, Germany to present at the “xplore 2023 Technology Award for a Sustainable World” competition, hosted by Phoenix Contact. Team H2HU Aquaponics Automation locked in 2nd place out of 25 teams from 14 countries.

After 20 months of intensive work, the 25 finalists presented their projects. The day began with a welcome keynote by Frank Stührenberg, CEO of Phoenix Contact, followed by theoretical presentations of their concepts. In the afternoon, the 11-member jury walked through to critique, and then was followed with presentation on the real model.

The jury represented industries across science, education and politics evaluated the 25 projects with a focus on “Solutions for a sustainable world.”
