Harrisburg University of Science and Technology today announced that it has selected HHM as its hospitality partner for an upscale, 197-room boutique hotel that will be housed within its new mixed-use campus tower project in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.

“We are thrilled to partner with HHM on this significant new project. They bring hospitality experience, energy and an entrepreneurial spirit that complements and enhances Harrisburg University,” said Eric D. Darr, president of Harrisburg University.

With roots in Harrisburg, HHM is an industry leader in hospitality and among the fastest growing – and most stable – management, investment and development firms in the hospitality industry with 125 hotels and over $1B in managed revenues from coast to coast. HHM provides turn-key management, branding, and construction expertise as a manager and investor of leading branded, lifestyle, and full-service hotels.

“This is a natural partnership for us,” said Naveen P. Kakarla, CEO of HHM. “Hersha is ingratiated in the Harrisburg community and we are honored to lend our expertise to this exciting project in the city where our company began.”

Located at 3rd and Chestnut Streets in Harrisburg, the University’s 17-floor campus tower project will be home to the upscale boutique hotel. The hotel will front Chestnut Street and be separated from the university campus by an atrium in the first ten stories of the building.

The educational space in the tower is slated to accommodate at least 1,000 new students and a health science education center that will serve degree programs in nursing, pharmaceutical sciences and other allied health programs.
