Harrisburg University has announced a strategic partnership with Recycle Bicycle Harrisburg, a prominent local non-profit promoting sustainability and healthy transportation. This alliance aims to enhance student experiences, foster local community bonds, and promote sustainable practices, underpinning the university’s commitment to environmental responsibility.

The collaboration includes providing Harrisburg University students with free bicycles and comprehensive safety training. It also offers experiential learning opportunities, including student internships and projects at Recycle Bicycle’s local Harrisburg facility.

“We’re thrilled to be partnering with Recycle Bicycle Harrisburg,” said Dr. A.J. Merlino, Associate VP of Student Professional Development & Experiential Learning and Coordinator of Harrisburg University’s Cycling Esports Club. “This collaboration aligns with our commitment to enhancing student accessibility to city-wide services and businesses, supporting our student’s physical health, and promoting environmentally sustainable transportation. This initiative extends our mission to enrich the student experience while amplifying our bond with the broader Harrisburg community.”

Moreover, Harrisburg University and Recycle Bicycle will co-organize community events to unite HU students, faculty, and Harrisburg residents in promoting cycling and environmental stewardship.
