HARRISBURG, PA – Harrisburg University of Science and Technology (HU) extends a warm welcome to Christopher J. DeFlitch, MD, as he joins our business-centered Professional Development IT Board of Advisors.
As the Chief Medical Information Officer for Penn State Health, Dr. DeFlitch brings significant experience to the Board, not just as an Information Technology Professional but also as a practicing Emergency Medicine physician. His areas of research and influence include healthcare delivery systems engineering, telehealth and health informatics, clinical decision support, electronic medical records (EMR), device strategy, and other areas critical to clinical discovery, research, and communications.
The IT Advisory Board was established in 2020 and provides the vision that guides the business and technology efforts of HU’s Professional Development team – empowering our University to build the Workforce of the Future. This dedicated group comes to us from diverse corporate and government backgrounds and collaborates with HU faculty continuously to provide their keen insight and business experience. Their efforts help us meet the professional development demands of our students, who utilize Harrisburg University’s diverse STEM degree programs to build rewarding careers and our Centers and Institutes to engage in ongoing learning and professional development.
The Board’s key functions include:
- Assisting with curriculum development and content selection.
- Identifying new leading-edge methods for learning.
- Providing perspectives unique to the business community.
- Ensuring HU’s academic programing supports the needs of regional employers and national workforce development goals.
“Chris is in the unique position of being a Chief Medical Information Officer, which will add additional depth to our board. He is also a graduate of the IT Leaders Program at Harrisburg University, where he earned his CGCIO Certification. We are thrilled to gain another outstanding thought leader with Dr. DeFlitch, who will serve in an important advisory capacity for our University,” said Paul Roos, Associate Vice President of Workforce Development at Harrisburg University.
