Harrisburg University will co-host the Environmental Justice in Pennsylvania Symposium April 6, a one-day virtual event aimed at establishing environmental justice hubs throughout different regions of the state.

Harrisburg University and Carlisle’s Dickinson College will serve as the “Southcentral hub,” one of the six hubs planned across Pennsylvania.

Rafiyqa Muhammad, co-chair of the event and a member of Harrisburg’s Environmental Advisory Council, told The Burg news the hubs will serve as places for people in the community to learn more about environmental justice and collaborate with others with the same interest. She also said she hopes the symposium will inspire attendees to make small changes in their lives to “clean up the planet and get people healthy.”
