Level up your creativity at Harrisburg University’s Game Design Day! Students will spend the day in our cutting-edge media creation and game design labs, diving into the art and science of both tabletop and video game design. From brainstorming mechanics and narratives to playtesting prototypes and exploring digital tools, participants will experience what it’s like to design and develop games in university and professional settings.

Game Design Day is more than a chance to play; it’s a chance to create. Students will work alongside HU faculty and current Game Design majors to see how ideas become fully realized games, gaining insight into how design, storytelling, and technology come together to shape one of today’s fastest-growing industries.

“We built our program on the triad of core elements in making games: art and animation, gameplay design, and non-code-focused game development,” said Dr. Kelly Boudreau, Program Lead for Game Design. “By focusing on the three foundational aspects of digital games, Harrisburg University expands the opportunity for student enrollment across a broader range of student interests related to game design and development.”

Game design is about problem-solving, creativity, and building worlds that inspire connection. Events like Game Design Day give students an authentic taste of the collaborative, hands-on learning that defines the HU experience. Lunch will be provided for all attendees, and the schedule is designed to give students a realistic glimpse into the creative process of game design. Space is limited, so please mark your calendars and share with your students and colleagues. This is a first come, first served event.

We look forward to welcoming you to Harrisburg University, where the next generation of game creators begins their journey!
