Julia Dunst, PhD Director of Research

Julia K Dunst, Ph.D., serves the Harrisburg University as the Director of Research and IRB/IACUC administrator.  Trained with NIH’s Office of Human Research Protections in the new common rule, Julia oversight of HU’s institutional review board (IRB) and Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) infrastructure and guidance on policy and format is aimed at increasing HU’s research excellence. Dr. Dunst has parlayed that knowledge into grant administration, serving faculty and staff to increase the research footprint at HU.

Dr. Dunst came to HU with decades of experience in community and non-profit sectors with a focus on participatory and community research addressing “wicked” problems.  Adding value to HU’s Research Institute is her understanding of current policies, regulations and best practices for research integrity and ethical considerations.

Dr Dunst serves as the main contact for external research funding for HU. As a grant administrator, she manages both pre and post award processes, increasing HU’s grant applications by more than 50% in her first year. She serves as a resource and sounding board for budgeting, logic models, grant controls and invoicing.
