Biography

A native of Chambersburg, PA, Mr. Hipkiss’s has over 20 years of experience teaching biology at the collegiate level. His career began as a research technician and lab manager in the tumor immunology labs of Drew Pardoll and Charles Drake at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. During that time, he began his teaching career at Community College of Baltimore County. Most recently, he was biology faculty at Penn State Mont Alto for 17 years, teaching courses including microbiology, human biology, biology of aging, and history of infectious disease, and serving as an academic adviser for nursing majors and campus liaison for the Penn State College of Agricultural Sciences. His favorite part of teaching is 1-on-1 tutoring and seeing the “lightbulb” moment when a student finally understands a difficult concept.
