Dr. Christopher M. Reber President
Biography
Christopher M. Reber, Ph.D. became the fourth president of Harrisburg University of Science & Technology on June 30, 2026. He has devoted his career to higher education, previously serving as the eighth president of Hudson County Community College (HCCC), a role he assumed on July 1, 2018.
Dr. Reber’s presidency at HCCC was defined by engagement in local, regional, and national partnerships that created transformative, life-changing opportunities for students and the community. He is also deeply committed to transparency and the full participation of students, faculty, staff, and community members in the life of higher education institutions.
His leadership has earned local, state, and national recognition. In fall 2025, Insight Into Academia magazine named him a 2026 Trailblazer in Higher Education. The American Association of Community Colleges named him its 2024 Community College CEO of the Year, and the New Jersey Business & Industry Association named him its 2025 Executive of the Year.
Before joining Hudson County Community College, Dr. Reber served as president of Community College of Beaver County near Pittsburgh. Earlier, he was executive dean and a cabinet member at Clarion University of Pennsylvania. He also spent 18 years at Penn State Erie, The Behrend College, where he served as chief student affairs officer and chief advancement and university relations officer, and taught undergraduate and graduate students.
Dr. Reber holds a bachelor’s degree from Dickinson College, a master’s degree from Bowling Green State University, and a doctorate from the University of Pittsburgh. He also earned a postgraduate certificate from Harvard University’s Graduate School of Education.
Born and raised in York, PA, Dr. Reber currently resides in Hummelstown, Pennsylvania, with his husband, Kerry Stetler, and their two Boston terriers, Greta and Gilda. He is also the father of two adult children: Jonathan Reber, who lives in Colorado and is pursuing a degree in automotive technology at Front Range Community College, and Katherine Reber, a graduate of the University of Cambridge and Kenyon College, who is pursuing a doctorate in English at Duke University in North Carolina.
