Report details student outcomes, workforce pathways, research, and philanthropy as the University approaches its 25th anniversary
HARRISBURG, PA (Oct. 9, 2026) — Harrisburg University of Science and Technology (HU) has published its inaugural Impact Report: a look at how the University changes students’ lives, strengthens the regional economy and workforce, and advances high-demand fields in science and technology. The 2025-26 Impact Report is available at HarrisburgU.edu.
The report arrives as HU approaches its 25th anniversary on Dec. 12, 2026. It pairs independent economic data and student outcomes with the stories of the students, faculty, and partners behind them.
“I returned home to Central Pennsylvania this summer to lead an institution unlike any other. As I explore these stories of student success and community enrichment, I am more certain than ever that it was a sound decision. This is an extraordinary university with a distinctive mission and almost endless potential,” said Dr. Christopher M. Reber, president of Harrisburg University. “I hope you enjoy reading these stories as
much as I have. And I hope they inspire you to support our students, collaborate with us, or simply learn more about HU’s distinctive blending of research university scope with trade school practicality.”
Highlights from the report include:
- Economic impact: $274.5 million in annual economic impact and 2,242 jobs supported statewide, according to a 2025 study conducted by Parker Strategy Group for the Association of Independent Colleges and Universities of Pennsylvania (AICUP), based on 2023 data. HU’s activity also generates an estimated $22 million a year in state and local tax revenue.
- Student outcomes: 96% of HU undergraduates are employed, enrolled in graduate school, or serving in the military within six months of graduation.
- Reach: 10,151 learners from 49 states and 127 countries during the 2025-26 academic year.
- Access and affordability: $5.7 million in institutional grants and scholarships awarded to students.
The report also covers the University’s 2025 launch of four new academic schools; its high school pathways through College in High School (CIHS) and On-Campus Dual Enrollment; and its innovation and national security work through the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIE) and STORMWERX. It closes with stories of philanthropy and alumni success.
“We do not measure our success only in enrollment figures or revenue,” wrote Michael Fiaschetti, chair of the HU Board of Trustees, in the report’s opening letter. “We measure it in the professionals we graduate who return to serve Pennsylvania communities.”
