HARRISBURG, PA (Oct. 7, 2026) — Harrisburg University of Science and Technology (HU) thanks U.S. House Speaker Mike Johnson, U.S. Rep. Scott Perry, U.S. Rep. Lisa McClain, and state Sen. Greg Rothman for visiting campus on Tuesday, Oct. 6, to help kick off National Manufacturing Week.
The visit focused on the University’s advanced manufacturing work, including its STORMWERX research center. Officials explored HU’s fully functional smart factory, 3D printing and robotics labs, and more. Rep. Perry’s visit followed his September stop on campus during J-DAMMIT, HU’s advanced manufacturing conference.
In his welcome, President Christopher M. Reber described the purpose HU was founded on: to educate people for the jobs the region and the nation needs next. Today, more than 10,000 learners from across the Commonwealth and more than 120 countries study at HU each year. Reber pointed to the University’s advanced manufacturing students, who work alongside STORMWERX and HU’s industry and military partners to 3D print new parts, train Warfighters on reverse engineering and field repairs, and find faster, lower-cost ways to get equipment to service members.
“That is HU’s value proposition: an education that is applied from day one, connected to employers, and accountable for results,” Reber said. “And we measure our success by what our graduates go on to build.”
HU is grateful to the officials and their staff for their time, and to the STORMWERX and Advanced Manufacturing faculty, staff, and students who made the visit possible.
