Sangwhan Cha, Ph.D. Associate Professor of Computer Sciences

Dr. Sangwhan Cha received a B.Sc. and Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of New Brunswick, Fredericton, NB, Canada in 2000 and 2012 respectively and the Master’s Degree in software engineering from Korea University, Seoul, Korea in 2007. He was a postdoctoral research fellow in Big Data Analytics and Health Informatics Lab at the University of New Brunswick and Dalhousie University.

Dr. Cha’s teaching interests include Big Data Architecture, Data Structures, and Algorithms. He received various National Science and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) grants. He was a senior software engineer and a member of the advisory committee at various ICT companies. His current research interests include Big Data Analytics, Parallel Distributed Systems, Fog/Cloud computing, the Internet of Things (IoT), Graph Processing, Mobile Computing and Health informatics.

Dr. Cha has been actively participating in professional activities. He has served on the Technical Program Committee for various international conferences including IEEE ICCSIT 2011 and IEEE Big Data Congress 2015. He is also a member of Simulated Reality Community Working Group. He has published many papers in international conferences and scientific journals. Dr. Cha is currently an Associate Professor of Computer Science at Harrisburg University of Science and Technology.
