Dr. Sangwhan Cha is an Associate Professor of Computer Science at Harrisburg University of Science and Technology. He received his B.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Computer Science from the University of New Brunswick (UNB), Fredericton, Canada, in 2000 and 2012, respectively, and his M.S. degree in Software Engineering from Korea University, Seoul, South Korea, in 2007. He subsequently conducted postdoctoral research in big data analytics and health informatics at the University of New Brunswick and Dalhousie University.
Dr. Cha’s teaching interests include big data architecture, data structures and algorithms, distributed computing, and emerging computing technologies. Prior to and throughout his academic career, he has also served as a senior software engineer and advisory committee member for various information and communication technology (ICT) companies. This combination of academic and industry experience enables him to bridge theoretical research with practical, real-world software development and computing applications.
His current research interests include Artificial Intelligence (AI), Big Data Analytics, Parallel and Distributed Systems, Fog and Cloud Computing, the Internet of Things (IoT), Graph Computing and Processing, Mobile Computing, and Health Informatics. His research focuses on developing scalable and intelligent computing systems and applying advanced AI and data analytics techniques to complex real-world problems.
Dr. Cha is actively engaged in professional and scholarly activities. He has served on the Technical Program Committees of various international conferences and has authored and co-authored numerous research papers published in peer-reviewed scientific journals and international conference proceedings.
