Julie Doxsee, Ph.D Associate Professor of English

Dr. Julie Doxsee joined the faculty at Harrisburg University as Associate Professor of English in 2019 after three years as Assistant Professor of English at Central Penn College. Before moving to Central Pennsylvania, she spent nine years teaching in the Academic Writing Program at Koc University in Istanbul, Turkey. Throughout a 20-year career in academia, she has taught academic writing, creative writing, and literature to undergraduates. At Koc University she also helped develop a graduate writing curriculum for scholars entering discipline-specific global communities and served as Director and co-coordinator of a unique academic writing program. In addition to a career in teaching academic writing, ESL/EFL writing, creative writing, and literature, Dr. Doxsee is an actively publishing poet and nonfiction author. Reviewers have referred to her poetry “a series of fun-house mirrors” and “loops and knots of iron that hold the secrets to their allure in underlying geometrical patterns.” At HU, Professor Doxsee teaches in the English/Communication program and helps develop curricula for the multi-district College in the High School division.
