Biography

Greg Loring-Albright received his PhD from Drexel University ’s Communication Culture and Media program. He holds a B.A. special major in Film and Media Studies from Swarthmore College. He teaches in the Game Design and Interactive Media programs. Greg’s dissertation analyzes digital adaptations of tabletop games, using media ecology to approach this pandemic-related adaptation in media practices of tabletop gaming hobbyists.

His current research interests include practices of game design, games for social change, and games as media. Greg also designs board, role-playing, and real-world games for publication, research, and for fun. His recent games include Keep the Faith (Central Michigan University Press, 2025), Bloc by Bloc: Uprising (with T.L. Simons, Out of Order Games, 2022), and Ahoy (Leder Games, 2022). When he is not researching, designing, or playing games, Greg enjoys roasting, brewing, and tasting coffee (ask him for local cafe recommendations!). He also gets outdoors to hike, bike, and swim with his family and his dog as often as he can
