Esports
Harrisburg University is at the forefront of helping students achieve the professional knowledge needed to succeed in the esports industry, whether in the game or behind the scenes.
HU Storm Sets the Standard in Collegiate Esports
Each year, The Storm welcomes students of all skill levels to join the program to compete and receive hands-on opportunities with a collegiate esports program. Students receive academic scholarships and have the opportunity to be housed in Storm Shelter, the esports dorm on HU’s campus. Our student athletes pursue degrees in today’s most sought-after STEM fields, compete under a world-class coaching staff, and learn in our state-of-the-art practice space.
The HU Storm
The HU Storm offers an array of hands-on opportunities, from competitive Varsity and Junior Varsity rosters to The Storm Student Program, where students can work with the teams. The Storm currently competes in VALORANT, Rocket League, League of Legends, Overwatch2, and Super Smash Brothers Ultimate. But we’re always open to adding more titles based on HU student interest. Students interested in joining The Storm should fill out this form or email HUStorm@HarrisburgU.edu.
HU Gaming Club
Our Esports Facilities
The Whitaker Center for Science and the Arts is the official home stadium for HU’s Esports arena, practice space and digital locker room, Stage2. The practice facility houses 25+ MSI gaming computers, floor to ceiling video screens, and a private area for coaching and broadcasting.
Esports Dorms
Harrisburg University offers students multiple opportunities to become part of the HU Storm esports community, including dedicated esports housing at Storm Shelter. Located at 28 South Dewberry Street, approximately one block from the University’s Main Building, Storm Shelter is a smaller residential building designed to bring students with a shared interest in gaming and esports together. Residents are primarily Junior Varsity esports players and members of the Storm Student program.
Storm Shelter offers single rooms within two-bedroom units, along with a limited number of additional single-room options. Housing availability is limited, with priority given to students requiring ADA accommodations when applicable. Residents also have access to the Storm Shelter Lounge, a dedicated first-floor esports gaming space featuring 16 gaming PCs where students can compete, practice, socialize, and play alongside other members of the HU gaming community.
Students interested in living at Storm Shelter should review the option on the HU Housing Application and Housing SharePoint site or contact HU Housing at Housing@My.HarrisburgU.edu for additional information.
Esports Management
Harrisburg University is one of the only colleges in the world to offer a Bachelor of Science in Esports Management, Production and Performance.
