The University is located at 326 Market Street. There are entrances along Market Street and an entrance along Fourth Street. The Admissions Office is located on the ground floor in the Academic Center. The ground floor also houses Financial Aid, Registration, and Graduate Admissions. Call the University Reception Desk at 717.901.5160 or the Security Desk at 901.5180 if you need assistance.
Floors 1 and P3 thru P9 are open public access floors and you can access those floors from any elevator kiosk in the garage or building. Floors 2 and 10 thru 14 are not public access and require a Harrisburg University keycard to gain access. If you are visiting the University, please check in with the Security Desk on Floor 1.
How to Get to HU
You can literally take planes, trains and automobiles to visit. Our location in downtown Harrisburg puts us near Interstates 83 and 81 and the Pennsylvania Turnpike, making it an easy drive to the University from any of Pennsylvania’s major cities. And it’s only a two-hour drive from the University to Baltimore, Washington, DC or Philadelphia.
The Amtrak Passenger Train Station and Greyhound Bus Station are one block from our location. And the Harrisburg International Airport is only nine miles from the University.
Driving Directions
From York, Baltimore and Washington, D.C.
Take I-83 North to Harrisburg. Take the 2nd Street exit. Follow 2nd Street to Market. Turn right on Market. Follow Market Street to Fourth Street to use the Harrisburg Parking Authority operated lot within the Academic Center. Turn left on Fourth Street. Entrance to the parking lot is on left.
From Lancaster
Take PA 283 West to I-283 North. From I-283 North exit left to I-83 South. Take the 2nd Street exit. Follow 2nd Street to Market Street. Turn right on Market. Follow Market Street to Fourth Street. Turn left on Fourth Street to use the Harrisburg Parking Authority operated lot within the Academic Center. Entrance to the parking lot is on left.
From Northern Pennsylvania
Take I- 81 South to I-83 South to Harrisburg. Take the 2nd Street Exit. Follow 2nd Street to Market Street. Turn right on Market. Follow Market Street to Fourth Street. Turn left on Fourth Street to use the Harrisburg Parking Authority operated lot within the Academic Center. Entrance to the parking lot is on left.
From Eastern or Western Pennsylvania
Take PA Turnpike to Harrisburg Exit 247. Take I-283 North to I-83 South. Take the 2nd Street exit. Follow 2nd Street to Market. Turn right on Market. Follow Market Street to Fourth Street. Turn left on Fourth Street to use the Harrisburg Parking Authority operated lot within the Academic Center. Entrance to the parking lot is on left.
Parking
The Harrisburg Parking Authority also operates a garage within Harrisburg University’s building. It is accessible from 4th Street. The garage is fully automated and there is a cash-only payment machine on the first floor. If you are using the Harrisburg Parking Authority operated lot within the Academic Center, please take the elevator to Floor 1 and check in with the Security Desk. You will need to enter floor number “1” at the kiosk adjacent to the elevators; there are no buttons inside the elevator cars. The kiosk will direct you to the appropriate elevator car.
Street parking may be available and is free on weekends and after 5:00 p.m. on weekdays. For additional information about parking, you may contact the Harrisburg Parking Authority at 717.255.3099 or visit the HPA online at http://www.harrisburgparking.org/. The University can not validate for any parking in the garage.
Parking for vehicles with a height above 7 feet, 2 inches (SUVs, trucks with racks, and vehicle lift kits) is limited to P-3.
