Harrisburg, PA – The Harrisburg University of Science and Technology (HU) Board of Trustees has recently approved an updated tuition schedule, effective July 1, 2024. This affects all semesters starting on or after July 1, 2024, including the upcoming Late-Summer 2024 Semester and all 2024–2025 academic year semesters.

UPDATE [July 19, 2024]: In July, HU’s President, Eric D. Darr, PhD, shared a few thoughts with PennLive about college affordability. In his latest opinion editorial, Dr. Darr says higher education has a responsibility to keep learning affordable for the next generations of students and to find ways to diversify their revenue so they’re not always forced to pass rising costs on to the learner.

Undergraduate tuition will stay at $11,950 per semester for full-time undergraduate enrollment (1217 semester hours). The per-semester-hour tuition rate is $1,000 for undergraduate students enrolled in fewer than 12, or more than 17, semester hours in a term. To support and enhance the student experience at Harrisburg University, a $250-per-semester fee will be charged for the Fall and Spring Semesters, excluding Summer. This fee funds essential services and activities aimed at student well-being and access to expanded campus support, including student activities, wellness, and recreational opportunities. So, while tuition remains unchanged for the 11th consecutive year, the new student activity fee will increase the cost of tuition and fees to $24,400 for a full-time student enrolled in the fall and spring semesters.

The graduate tuition rate is $955 per credit hour, and the $500 program fee per semester has been eliminated. A full-time student taking six credits in a semester will pay $5,730. The total tuition for a 36-credit graduate program will be $34,380. This modest increase ensures the University continues to provide the highest-quality graduate education at an affordable cost despite rising operating expenses. The program fee was eliminated in response to student feedback and enhanced streamlining.

Harrisburg University’s primary goal is to offer a competitive and personalized education. This includes:

  • Providing access to a unique science and technology education.
  • Maintaining a commitment to hiring and retaining exceptional faculty dedicated to teaching.
  • Supporting student-faculty interaction in small classes and collaborative projects.
  • Committing to a hands-on STEM curriculum that aligns with regional career opportunities.
  • Enhancing student services to ensure high placement rates in rewarding jobs and top graduate and professional schools.
