Yiben Wang, Ph.D. Assistant Professor of Chemistry & Biochemistry

Dr. Yiben Wang’s primary area of teaching is in general chemistry (both lecture and lab) but has taught biochemistry and general education courses in the past as well. Regardless of the course, Dr. Wang sets high expectations for his students, which can be challenging, but he also provides ample support for them to succeed. As an educator, Dr. Wang employs active learning techniques to foster the development of his students’ critical thinking skills. As a beneficiary of amazing teachers himself, Dr. Wang is very passionate about education and always strives to improve his teaching skills so that he is better able to serve his students.

Dr. Wang is primarily focused on education research specifically how to enhance his students’ understanding of chemical concepts and problem-solving skills. In addition, Dr. Wang is also interested in building on his doctoral work into modifications of the bacterial peptidoglycan.
