Brett Vance Associate Director of Secondary School Services, Programs, & Partnerships (Philadelphia)

Brett Vance is the Associate Director of Secondary School Services, Programs, and Partnerships for Harrisburg University of Science & Technology Philadelphia region. In this position, he provides leadership to local school systems to promote, develop and champion STEM partnerships throughout public and private schools. Brett has earned an undergraduate degree from Penn State University and an M.Ed. from Eastern University. Brett is extremely passionate about the progression and expansion of extracurricular academic programs and a rigorous curriculum for students to promote leadership development and community involvement throughout Harrisburg University of Science & Technology. Brett has created and promoted exploration programs that concentrated on initiatives related to science, technology, engineering, and math education, providing professional learning experiences that connect to career fields in high demand.

Prior to joining Harrisburg University, Brett served as the only appointed Career Academy Specialist for the School District of Philadelphia, where he developed strategic alliances and led stakeholder groups in the implementation of programs designed to prepare students for future job markets. He has provided a capacity building focus within underrepresented urban schools by developing a framework to support and sustain a diverse community of learners, to which students can fulfill requirements for college entrance while learning to relate their academics to the world outside of high school. Brett was born and raised in Philadelphia, receiving a public-school education from Julia R. Masterman and Northeast High School. Currently, Brett resides in Philadelphia with his wife of 21 years. He has one daughter and two sons, at which some point, all lived in the city of brotherly love. Spending quality time with family, rooting for his favorite team (Philadelphia Eagles), and serving as a mentor to youth is Brett’s most enjoyable pastime.
